A Catch-Up With the Creightons

Heston had a field trip with the preschool and we got to go to the Ag Farm! It was so much fun!

There were so many hands-on activities for the kiddos and I enjoyed watching Heston soak it all up.

One of the stations was all about horses and Sadie just loved it! Kaitlyn showed her how to rope and ride!

Heston already thinks he's a natural!
Then we had a wreath making class at our Monday Night School at church and Di Di (someone Sadie loves to high heaven) sent her home with a wreath and flowers to make on her own. So this is Sadie's idea of a craft day at home with mom.
While Heston plays outside, Sadie plays with her squigglies and pom poms. And I still find these little things hidden all around the house.
And here we find that Heston and Sadie yet again found where the kittens were hiding and continued to bring them in the house and torture them with their love.
On my birthday I came in the house to find that Tom had put both kids to bed and had rallied the kids into helping him cut out this sign. So sweet.
Since the weather is warming up, Sadie and Heston have loved being outside. When I fill up their little pool they can't wait to pour mud into it and pretend to be "piggies". The kids had a mud fight as we can see by Sadie's battle wounds.
While Sadie fills up the pool, Heston makes a mud puddle in his "house" and grabs all the trucks and tractors he can to help him dig up his treasure.

The Start of a New Year

I'm going to try (keyword- try) to post more of my life here on the farm throughout the year but no promises!

Mostly these days it's just catch up with dishes and meals and laundry and vacuuming, nothing too exciting, but I've been trying to snap more pictures of the kids in their kodak moments.

The other night I passed out the toothbrushes to the kids and said "time to brush your teefies!" So this is how I found Sadie: reading a book on the fireplace, and Heston: standing on the sink actually brushing his teeth. I thought it was too quiet in the house.....

Then the kids helped me make the Pioneer Woman's mocha brownies and they were so good! Heston got to lick the beater for the first time in his life and Sadie was a little hesitant but she caught on fast.

Sadie always wants the stool to see what I'm doing up on the counter and it's a love/hate relationship. If I put her too close to the sink she'll turn the water on a make a mess, but if I put her close to the microwave I'll find spoons, forks, and the salt and pepper shakers hidden inside of it.
Sadie's favorite thing is emptying the salt and pepper shakers. So I finally relented and let her make a mess on the floor with all the salt and bowls and funnels she wanted. It lasted about ten minutes and then she was bored, go figure!

Until next time,

To Clean or Not to Clean.....

Over Labor Day weekend I tried to deep clean the house. Beside the usual dusting and vacuuming, I was trying to clean (and purge) some of the kid's toys. As I pulled out the toy basket yesterday, I went to answer the phone and came back to this: Heston and Sadie helping me! Sadie plays with an old camera and walks around the house saying "cheese" and it's pretty cute. Meanwhile, Heston played in the toy basket and was having a blast trying to hid himself fully and shut the lid.

I told Sadie to look at the camera and say "cheese" so she looked through her camera and pointed it toward me and said "cheeeeese mama".

Then today as I was taking a shower, which is a chore all on it's own with the two kids), I came out to Sadie playing with Heston's pajamas. As I followed her into her room, I came across my second little helper of the house: Heston. I had told him that while I was taking a shower that he was to get himself dressed. When I asked him what he was doing he said "I got all these clothes out for you mom!". Thank you so much Heston for all your help.....
 Can you find the red-head?
Until next time, or however long this takes me to clean up....

Lazy Summer Days

Is summer over yet? It's been hot and dry enough here for TWO summers!

When the kids start to get bored and restless during the day it's time to think outside of the box (and the house).
So we starting painting and coloring!

Heston loves to paint and he tries to show Sadie how to paint as well, but she usually ends up just spilling the water cup and Heston gets so frustrated.
 My expert watercolor painter!
And with the breakfast left alone, Meow Meow decides to eat it before the kids notice.
Heston has been driving Sadie around in the Gator and she loves it! She actually fell out of the back and skinned her nose on the rocks yesterday so she's farm tough by now!
Heston found some toy guns that my brother brought him about a year ago and he's just getting old enough to play with them. He has his cowboy hat on from Auntie Kalli and guns from Uncle Zak, so he's set!
Heston is giving Sadie a few pointers on how to drive the Gator. Heston climbs on the piano (I was trying to keep them up high so the kids wouldn't get to them, but clearly that's not stopping them) to get some real keys and brings them to Sadie to "start" the Gator with.

Until next time!

Heston's New Bed

It was time for Heston to stop sleeping with Tom and I and also graduate from a crib to a big-boy bed.

Having two kids in one room hasn't quite been the transition I thought it would be, but thanks to a twin bed, I can sleep in the room if need be.

As Tom and I were setting everything up in the room, Heston and Sadie found a new playground in the kitchen!
 Peek-a-boo Heston we see you!

Heston and Sadie are such big helpers when it comes to putting together a box spring.
And Heston loves it so much he ALMOST (repeat almost because he still hasn't fallen asleep in his own bed yet) fell asleep.

Sadie loves brother's bed too, she can play and jump on it, so it's a good fit all the way around!

A Few of My Favorite Things....

With my last post being on April 7th, I'm a little embarrassed that I'm 4 months behind, but better late than never!

A couple of pictures that I found on my camera were ones of Sadie dressing up in her brother's tool belt. She loves to play with Heston's toys and I feel she's leaning more toward the tomboy side, so I'll just dress her up in more dresses from now on.

Here, she's playing in the basket of stuffed animals that was supposed to be a barrier preventing her from going into brother's room while he was taking a nap, but clearly this road block did nothing.
I can't even remember taking this picture, but clearly Heston thought he need to wear daddy's goggles and run outside.
As of today, there's been a manhunt for about 2 weeks running and it's been making me a little bit nervous, granted we're not as close to the chase as most out here, but with the kiddos loving to be outside, we've been finding other ways of having fun indoors-exhibit A: the plastic cars are coming in to make laps around the house.
 Heston helped me make cookies!
And Heston also helps me with the laundry, which he's very fascinated with!

Here's the link to what is currently happening out here in case you haven't already heard:

Happy Easter!

Our Easter began with a 6:30 am sunrise service at our little white church. Following the service there was an egg hunt, and here is Heston's booty. He made sure to bring them home and open each and every one.
After our egg hunt at church we went over to Dale and Debi's for an Easter lunch and an egg hunt with the cousins.

In this picture, Tom is giving Heston a pep talk about the hunt, it seemed to work!
And here's sister Sadie just happy as a clam wandering the yard, she didn't really get the idea of an egg hunt...
Heston found a couple good eggs! He would open each one as soon as he found them instead of just searching for eggs, Tom was trying to tell him it's quantity not quality that matters.

The two kiddo's egg stash. Maybe this is why they didn't sleep that night, and also the reason why I cleaned the carpets the next morning.

The cousins at Easter, it's hard to get them all to sit still, so this is the best shot.

Heston and his eggs. Bless his heart! Some of them had quarters in them and Heston saved them in his pockets to put in his piggy bank at home.

I hope everyone had a happy Easter, and let's hope I can get more on schedule doing my blog!!!
