Ginger & The Mantis

Boy am I ever proud of Ginger, she hunted down and cornered this poor little mantis. The mantis was not very happy at all.

Mantis hunting is great, but let's focus on more important rodents: gophers maybe?

Also, this morning, Ginger had a liver! Where the heck did she get that? I hope there's not an animal out there without one, Ginger as the main culprit is no bueno!

Oh Pioneer Woman, How I Love You!

Well since my dream of being the Pioneer Woman's assistant is not going to happen, I will instead make her delicious recipes one day at a time.

Hey Julie did it to Julia in the movie, maybe I should star in a movie: Ree & Kristi!

I think I have almost made every one of her recipes in her book, and more online as well! But this one I have to share with you: Spicy Shredded Pork, yes it's delicious, and the local cowgirls like it as well, so I'd highly recommend it. To make it tonight for din din, check out the recipe!

Yes, this blog is supposed to be about my life out here, but cooking is a big part of it, and if I can share delicious and easy recipes with others (I was a horrible cook in the beginning) then I've done my good deed for the day!

The Baling Days of Summer

Oh how I've longed for this season, the season of cutting, inverting, baling, and hauling. Yes, it's here again, and even though it's the busiest season around these parts, it's comforting to know that this is what I'm blessed with year after year.

I don't know if you can see Tom in his baler far into the distance, but he's there I promise!

I decided to grab my camera and take a shot of him, sadly my camera doesn't take pics well from far away, but it will work.

The baler is my favorite part of haying simply because of the repetitious hum and pack of the alfalfa or 3 way into large bales. When they bale behind the house it's such a calming sound to hear. Come on over and enjoy the noise!

Little Ella Grace

Well I've decided to share a little of my past today: This cute, adorable, sweet little girl is Ella Oliver. Her mom, Julie babysat me as a small girl, and then when Julie had her daughter-Ella, I babysat her. Clear as mud?

The point is, that's it's an ongoing tradition, and boy do I love love love this little girl, how can you not love a face like that?

Ella Grace was actually the flower girl in my wedding and she was the best!

My sis and I took little miss Ella out to the dairy where I kept my heifer, and these are the cutest pictures ever, oh to view life through the eyes of a small child. Cherish the times while you can!
