Good 'Ol Cherry Cobbler

I'm still trying to get into the hang of things with this whole "I'm a mom now" so with all the delicious fresh fruit people brought us I decided to make a cobbler with the bag of cherries I had.

Tom of course told me to make a homemade cobbler with the leftover fruit, so he takes all the credit! So I searched for an easy recipe, lets be honest-I don't have much extra time on my hands, and lo and behold I found a good one - here it is.

So I baked it up and Tom said it was the most delicious cherry cobbler he's had, thank heavens. So this recipe is Tom approved!

Heston's First Blog Post!

Did I mention that I finally gave birth? August 5th around 1:30pm little Heston Weaver Creighton came into this world. He weighed in at 10 pounds 5 ounces and 22 inches long, little booger, no wonder he baked so long!

So after everyone came to visit him in the hospital, we've had visitors come to see him at the house, and one of them was Uncle Zak!

Uncle Zak (my 7 foot tall brother) didn't have the chance to visit Heston in the hospital so he came down this week to see the little man. Uncle Zak is a natural! And Heston loved loved loved him!

And today, since I'm getting used to this whole baby schedule thing, was an opportunity to take a pic of the little man sleeping and I realized he is 2 weeks old today, wow how time flies!

A Man's Best Friends

I asked Tom to take some more pictures of me preggie, and while we were outside, the dogs got totally jealous and wanted their picture taken too, so of course I traded the camera with Tom and started snapping!

Ginger (on the left) always gets camera shy, but good 'ol Sampson is always ready for his close up! I think Sampson likes it here!

Banana Cake

I do this every time- buy bananas and then a week later realize they're rotting on my counter top, blast! What to do with these over ripe bananas....

My good friend Mary Beth makes the most delicious banana cake with cream cheese frosting, and I've been craving it for months, so I found a similar recipe on Pinterest and decided to make it a couple weeks ago. It wasn't just like Mary Beth's, but it was still as delicious and satisfied my banana craving for the day.

So with two days till my due date I find my rotting bananas, and I figured there's no time like the present to make these things! Here's the recipe if you want to try it out. It's just for an 8x8 size which is all Tom and I really need. It's different from banana bread in that it's gooier and has sour cream and more sugar so it's a little more like cake. Try it out!

Almost Time for Baby!

Here I am at 38 weeks and 2 days to be specific. I've been trying to get Tom to take pictures of me each week to document how big this little man is!
Tom is the best photographer, he wanted me outside in natural light with the farm fields behind me, I should totally hire him for the next week to take pics of me.

I just thought it was time for a preggie pic on my blog. I've posted some pictures of me on Facebook, and with the due date coming up soon I'm getting excited to meet him!

Pickle Time!

I feel like I just did this only a couple weeks ago, but I guess it's time again for canning!

Tom told me that being 9 1/2 months preggie wouldn't prevent me from still being a homemaker, and I had to prove him right! I harvested our pickling cucumbers this morning and decided it was time to can them, because who knows when baby will be here!

I totally cheat and buy the pre-made package of pickling mix from Walmart, I think it's called Mrs. Wages, and it's only like $2. Last year I was fancy and made my own pickling spice and even used great recipes but Tom was the most impressed with the $2 mix so heck why spend all that time on making everything from scratch?

I still have pickles from last year so I guess I"ll just start making a pickle stash, truth is, we go through pickles like you wouldn't believe! I hope I can keep up with our garden production.

Monkey Bread Cravings

I haven't really had the chance to deal with weird pregnancy cravings, and I think Tom is pretty happy with that. Tonight however, it is time for me to make this delicious monkey bread. It is, (of course) a Pioneer Woman recipe, and I've made it a couple times before and have never been disappointed.

I don't care how unhealthy it is, I'll eat some berries and watermelon with it to equal it out. I mean, just look and that yummy gooey deliciousness, sorry Tom, tonight's a sweets night, I think he'll understand.

If you too are drawn to this picture and are craving some, here's the link to her recipe.
