Our Easter began with a 6:30 am sunrise service at our little white church. Following the service there was an egg hunt, and here is Heston's booty. He made sure to bring them home and open each and every one.
After our egg hunt at church we went over to Dale and Debi's for an Easter lunch and an egg hunt with the cousins.
In this picture, Tom is giving Heston a pep talk about the hunt, it seemed to work!
And here's sister Sadie just happy as a clam wandering the yard, she didn't really get the idea of an egg hunt...
Heston found a couple good eggs! He would open each one as soon as he found them instead of just searching for eggs, Tom was trying to tell him it's quantity not quality that matters.
The two kiddo's egg stash. Maybe this is why they didn't sleep that night, and also the reason why I cleaned the carpets the next morning.
The cousins at Easter, it's hard to get them all to sit still, so this is the best shot.
Heston and his eggs. Bless his heart! Some of them had quarters in them and Heston saved them in his pockets to put in his piggy bank at home.
I hope everyone had a happy Easter, and let's hope I can get more on schedule doing my blog!!!

False Alarm!
It all started at 6am this morning when Sadie decided to wake up. As soon as she wakes up I hop in the shower, if I don't do it then, my shower usually doesn't happen until...well....who knows! When I take a shower, Sadie is just devastated that I would leave her behind, so to keep her entertained, I hand her the house phone so she can press buttons to her heart's content.
After my morning shower, I heard Heston wake up and I got him out of bed and got the kiddos in their high chairs and ready for breakfast. Then I heard a knock on the door. A sheriff's car was parked in my driveway. I welcomed the officer in to the house, having no idea what he was there for! He proceeded to tell me that someone had dialed 911 from this location and the dispatcher heard a child's voice in the background. I stared at him for a couple seconds and realized that in the 2 minutes I took my shower and handed Sadie the phone, she must have dialed 911. What a smart cookie! I couldn't teach her to dial numbers if I wanted to! I thanked the officer and after we had a laugh about the situation he headed back out.
After the false alarm from this morning we kept to ourselves. I haven't let Sadie play with the phone after that, and in lieu of the flashing buttons on the phone, I let the kids go wild with my canning lids and some kitchen utensils and they seemed happy enough.
Oh Sadie, if you don't keep me on my toes, I don't know who will!

Ice Cream Sandwiches and Christmas
I have made the terrible mistake of buying ice cream sandwiches, which Heston is hooked on now. He opens the freezer and gets one for himself and then passes one to Sadie. I'll be doing laundry or coming in from feeding the animals outside and I see this! I can't even get mad at them because usually Sadie and Heston's faces are so priceless. Case in point!
You caught me mom!
For Christmas, I was trying to carry on the tradition of my childhood of opening pajamas on Christmas Eve, so that they were in new pjs on Christmas for pictures. Here, Heston is helping Sadie open her present.
Say "cheese" Sadie!
I was hoping to take all these great pictures on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and then I only got a few shots, so here are Heston's new pajamas on Christmas day as he's opening his tool box from daddy-I mean Santa.
On New Years Day, the kids helped me with my resolution to keep things more organized by pulling out anything and everything in the kitchen cabinets.
Sadie found a spoon!
And then Heston got up close and personal with the camera.
Until next time!

Christmas Cookies
To get more into the Christmas spirit, I figured it was time to decorate some cookies! I found a recipe on Pinterest for crock pot hot chocolate (which was delicious), and called Dale and Debi to invite them over for some cookie decorating.
The boys were really intent on decorating the cookies, their concentration was amazing!
Heston wanted to decorate his own cookies, and boy is he creative!
Daddy and Heston made a good decorating team!
Dale's cookies turned out great!
Heston loved the hot chocolate and drank enough to make a mess on his pajamas.
Hi Tom!
The fruits of our labor! Heston and I taste tested the one in the top left hand corner and it was delicious!

Thanksgiving Time!
Since the last blog I did, there have been a couple of milestones:
Heston shoved the tip of a marker up his nose and we had to head to the pediatrician where he was held down, screamed bloody murder, and then said "thank you (it comes out more as taint tue)" and gave the doctor a hug (which warmed my heart). The yellow marker is the one that got shoved up, the brown marker is the comparison of how much went up his nose.

Then Sadie turned 8 months old, and I've been trying to stay on the ball and taking the monthly pictures, I think I forgot to take a 7 month picture, but I'm pretty sure that was the same day as our family pictures, so that counts right?
Look at that happy girl!

And then Thanksgiving happened! My parents drove down from Modesto to come to the Creighton Thanksgiving and I love when they come and visit. My dad and Tom agreed that if this picture was ever shown I'd be in BIIIIG trouble, so consider yourself warned Kristi!
Heston is just so helpful in the kitchen.
Our duty this year for Thanksgiving was potatoes, so we had delicious, fresh, farm potatoes from the field and we steamed and mashed those puppies, and boy were they delicious!
I gave Sadie a little taste off of the spatula that Heston is waving around, so I'm wondering how clean that thing really was......
What a manly apron you have on dad!
Oh Tom, how those ruffles frame your beard perfectly is beyond me! Is that the price tag still on it? Ooops!
What a handsome cook he makes.

My Artists
I was trying to pay some bills and I tossed down some pens and paper to Hes to keep himself entertained and no sooner do I turn my back then I see my son coloring my daughter, oh heavens.
He drew on Sadie's head and then colored his neck to match.
And then he colored Sadie's feetsies and she giggled the entire time. I couldn't really get mad by that time because when they laugh at each other it warms my heart!
She doesn't look like she's mad at brother for the graffiti on her toes and head.

Pony Rides!
We heard through the grapevine that the Onyx Farmer's Market was having pony rides during the holiday weekend! Well we couldn't pass that up! So I called Auntie Kowees (Kalli) and we loaded up the kiddos and headed on down to Onyx in search of an adventure!
Our good friends Tiffani and Michelle (which are actually family) got Heston all ready with cousin Jake's little chaps from when he was the size of Heston, too cute!
I heaved Hes up onto the saddle, and he took to it like a cow to cud and a pig to mud.
Ruby was so prepared to ride the ponies that she even picked out her favorite horsie shirt!
Sadie joined in on the fun too! She loves Auntie Kowees and needed some time in her arms along with Ruby.
Heston happened to find a tractor while he was there too, imagine that.
Hi my little cowpoke!
Look at those ears!
Riding like a natural!
He looks so serious!
There's sister Sadie with Charlie! Wave hi!
What good memories!
